All driving information stays on file with the DMV for ten years, this includes your conviction.
I have a friend who got a great deal, if he stays out of trouble for 1 1/2 years the DWI disappears!!! But of course it will still be with DMV, just not when somebody does a criminal background check.

Depends on your state. In Indiana the third conviction is a felony.

Seven years is the typical but that may not be true for every state…Pretty much any cop or above in your state would know, you can always ask. Unfortunately it’s not like after seven years it just disappears. It will always be in your record, you just won’t be penalized for it any longer.

    IT
STAYS ON YOUR DRIVEING RECORD FOREVER HERE IN N.J. BUT 3 YEARS ON YOUR CAR INS. AT A $3,000.00 PENALTY AND A SUSPENDED LIC. FOR 6 MONTHS FIRST OFFENCE.WE HAVE A POINT SYSTEM AND YOU GET 3 OR 4 POINTS ADDED TO YOUR LIC. WHEN YOU ACCUMULATE 12 POINTS YOU LOOSE YOUR LIC. FOR 1 YEAR.
