It is 100% legal for a potential employer to discriminate based criminal convictions.

Much would depend on what your degree is in, what type of job you are seeking as to how bad an DUI will affect your ability to get a job and whether or not the DUI was a misdemeanor or felony.

Jobs that are move forgiving of DUIs are the skilled trades, such as construction, plumbing, masonry, auto repair and electrical. Jobs that will eliminate you in a heartbeat are teaching, banking, nursing and childcare.

If it is a misdeamoner DUI, you will have no trouble getting a job. You just need to begin applying to companied that you want to work for. Also, if your school for a career resource office, use it. They can give you great links to open jobs.

If it is a felony DUI, you will have a harder time finding a job. However, as long as it does not involving driving a vehicle for the job, you should be just fine.

    GOOD LUCK!
