Yes unless you have a special talent or knowledge the employer is looking for.

    YES! Its a felony! Duh!

YES, if they do a background check…and most do….but the good companies will let you discuss the issue and see whether or not you haved learned and changed from it.

Simple minded companies assign one mistake as if it’s a personality trait.

As usual, it’s up to you how you handle what you’re handed.

We ended up hiring someone who had a DUI on their record and he has been with the company for 5 years now and has been our most dependable employee.

    Depends on the position.

Is driving part of your job duties?

Don’t even think about ambulance driver or fire truck driver. Airline pilot is probably out of the question too.

Sure it could, just like anything else they might find out about you. They probably wouldn’t do a background check until they have at least interviewed you. If they tell you they are going to do one, I would consider bringing the subject up and letting them know it was a one-time mistake (assuming it was), and that it has no relevance toward your ability to perform the job in question. You may not get the chance to explain once they’ve found out.
