Sure it could, just like anything else they might find out about you. They probably wouldn’t do a background check until they have at least interviewed you. If they tell you they are going to do one, I would consider bringing the subject up and letting them know it was a one-time mistake (assuming it was), and that it has no relevance toward your ability to perform the job in question. You may not get the chance to explain once they’ve found out.
