SSDI is for those who can not work because of a disability and YES the legal issues CAN effect your eligibility for benefits. The legal issue alone may not have an effect but they can be a contributing factor and may make proving a disability harder.
Even if you are already approved if the legal issues result in time served in a jail/prison/state facility benefits are discontinued during that time of confinement.
