Im a canadian citizen who has had a DUI in the past year and am travelling direct to mexico,is this a problem?

yes! if you are flying though you potentially will be charged with a FUI instead of a DUI
I don’t know anything about Canadian law but I can’t imagine why you would think the DUI would affect your ability to fly to Mexico.
