Does anyone know if having a DUI charge three and a half years ago will prevent me from getting a Georgia CDL?
I was under 21 at the time of the offense, if that matters. ...

It will not prevent you from obtaining a CDL. It will prevent a good company from hiring you for a few more years.
They just do not want to take the risk. I am sure Swift or Schneider will still take you on.
if you were under 21 it might be considered a juvenile offense and that record sealed. And by the way, sealed records are a joke, anyone that really needs to see one can get a court order. It might be worth it to look into having the record expunged.
The points , if Georgia uses a point system, should be off your record by now. The DUI might matter if your going to be doing work that requires bonding or security clearances. Just plain truck driving, probably not.
no it won’t i had this happen i payed my way threw college course it does severly limit you 2 choices for a job. almost every carrier goes back 5 years on dui. only 2 i know that don’t is crst and prime. crst easiest company to get onto i think you had to have dui 3 years ago and had license for 2 but i worked for them your pay will stink and you will have to team. you’ll be lucky if you don’t starve working for them. i even tryed there lease and still the money stunk. prime goes back 3 years but you have to have license 3 years. i pull a tank for them and am leasing. tankers is way better money then pulling a reefer or drybox. i have weeks were its normal to make 1200 to 2500 in a week i had 1 week this year i cleared 4100 but that only happen one time doing short runs over and over for a week that week. no matter were you go the pay stinks while you are being trained but if you can make it look into tankers but make sure you get %. if you do reefer at prime they don’t seem to do as good but you have to start somewere not sure how long you have to drive before you can pull a tank. and flatbeds is just to much work. everywere else will be most likely 5 years trust me i called a alot of companies.
