How long can a DUI arrest be strung out?

I know of a DUI from 2006 that is still in the courts. They keep changing the dates for this and that. There was a jury trial set up now it's changed again to say scheduling conference ?? ...

    If you waived your right to a speedy trial, it can sit in the system for years. Laws very from state to state. You should go to you local law library and research speedy trial laws in your state.

    Not sure about your state but here in IL. My friend is still going through it. They cancel and extend. He got arrested first time in 2005. He thinks that it will still take another 4 months. It is a shame that they can hold so much over your head even when you are doing everything they ask of you.
