I had a 2nd dui 9 yrs after my first offense. When I went thru all my programs and completed probation for my 1st DUI , the law required my dui to stay on my driving record for 7 yrs. I know the new 10 yr law took in effect a couple of years ago. Was this law retro-active? I was under the impression that the new law was in effect for any convicted dui's AFTER the law was passed. Please advise. Thanks.

Can someone explain the DUI law in Japan for me? Such as how many drinks is too much? What is the alcohol content limit level? What do they do at inspection? Such as the tests they perform? How much are the tickets? etc. Thank you!

A friend of mine got a DUI about 5 years ago and never showed up to court. For some reason he seems to think that if he waits 7 years, it automatically goes off your record and you can get another license. Is this true? We're in California, so only if you're familiar with the laws here, please.

I'm trying to determine what, if anything, a person could be charged with for having used an illegal drug. This is under the assumption that the person had no drugs on them, and was breaking no other laws (like DUI). As though they walked into the police department, said "I'm just taken ecstasy/smoked marijuana/etc., what are you going to do about it?" Anyone?
