They will get around $3000 in fines, have to complete some kind of alcohol awareness classes or AA meetings and their lisence will be suspended for 6 months-1 year. They will also be on probation during this time. Get a lawyer, somehow they get people’s sentences reduced.

Not enough… Most of the time they give them a fine and then make then take a class… I think they should get a lot more.. There are too many Innocent people that get hurt from people drinking and driving… I think If Cali made it harder on the people.. then maybe they will think before they get in a car and drive after drinking… Why should I have to worry every time I get in my car to take my kids somewhere…

    death by lethal injection

no but seriously some slap in the wrist, like a fine

Somehow this is not treated as a serious crime, not only in California, but in most places.

I don’t care if it is a first offence, that car is a lethal weapon in the hands of some drunken idiot, and it that idiot gets arrested rather than killing some poor sod then just thank whatever God you believe in and do the time.

My mom got a DUI in CA when I was a teen…VERY embarrassing. Anyway, she had to pay some fines, she had to go to AA meetings, she had her driver’s license taken away for 6 months to a year. She hit a parked car while she was on pain medication and alcohol.

well first time offender they’ll get a fine, and of course go to jail to sober up,and booked, the judge would either assigned them community service or classed or both. And they will be on probation, and not to have a DUI until a certain time
