If the grocery store has contracted a background screening company who conducts a proper background check, the DUI from California will be discovered. The proper method is to determine your residential history for 7 years and search each jurisdiction for both felonies and misdemeanors. If the company conducts this search, and the DUI occurred in the county where you lived in California, it will be discovered. I do not know what type of check this particular grocery store conducts, but I do know most do not conduct a very comprehensive check, so it might not be found.
you should be ok, if they do a background check it should come up, so if they ask down the road, admit it………..don’t go volunteering it.
More than likely your DUI in California will not be on record yet. You should be safe. Your name may appear in a docket though, which, if researched close enough, they will find that you were in court for something.
A DUI is a minor misdemeanor. They are just doing a background check to see if you are a thief and to ensure you are not going to hurt somebody.
Good Luck!
