Checking directly with the Nevada DMV website reveals that if your license is currently suspended in another state, you need to follow your current state’s reinstatement process in order to obtain a driver’s license in Nevada.

No. If your license is suspended in one state, it’s suspended in 50 states, Washington DC, all US territories, and even Canada and Mexico by agreement.

To get a license in Nevada you would have to turn in your California license, and once they checked it, they would find the suspension.

If you lied, and told them you never had a license and went through all the testing, you would have to prove your identity. Once they ran your record they would find the suspension, and you would have been less than truthful when you told them you never had a license.

Once the CA suspension is lifted, you can get your new license.

You have to check with both Nevada and California DMV. Only some States have reciprocity on that level, where a suspension in 1 State = a suspension in another. The only 2 States I can think of that do that are NY and Maryland.

If your California license is suspended, then it just means you’re unlicensed to drive in every other State.

What you would have to do, is clear up the California suspension and then surrender it to Nevada DMV for reciprocity and get a Nevada license; and you shouldn’t have to take the terst over again. I believe the only "State" that makes you do that is D.C. – something to do with the large amount of traffic circles.

As for the DUI, that will follow you around forever. So, if for example, you got caught DUI in Nevada then the prosecutor would be able to pull up your driving history and know that you had a previous DUI.

In NY, a 2nd arrest for DWI would mean it being raised to felony status.
