If you have not been actually convicted yet of a DUI i highly recommend you get a lawyer and get the charge dismissed or reduced to a moving violation.

If you have already been convicted and are simply asking what will be covered in DUI classes you have a couple of options:

    1. victim impact forum, where you meet a sensitivity group about the impact of drunk driving on victims. This is to make you aware of the potential hazards for human suffering caused by drunk driving and the long term impact on the victim and the family of the victim.

    2. DUI class, where you are indoctrinated to the fact that drunk driving is ethically wrong, and of course illegal. You can possibly take these classes online instead of physically going to a class.

in a nutshell, it’s a combination of traffice school and an AA meeting.

I suggest you learn from your experience and never get behind the wheel of a car again after even one drink. my husband is in the middle of a mutiple offenders program and the lenght of the classes only gets longer (he is doing an 18 month program) and the fines get a bunch higher ($2700.00)

    DUI Programs

In San Diego county there are four (4) locations that provide 12 hour, 3 month, 6 month and 18 month DUI programs. These are the providers authorized by both the Court and DMV. So if you should be convicted in court and assigned a program as part of your probation or you should lose your DMV hearing you will be required to participate in one of the programs offered at these locations.

Please call the location nearest your work or home for specific questions that you might have.

The school program is typically divided into two parts. A six week educational part held two days a week (90 minutes each) for 12 weeks at the same time there is a more informal gathering of 10 to 12 individuals another two days per week (again 90 minutes each). If you are more than 10 minutes late for any of these sessions you can’t get into the class and therefore must pay a $20.00 rescheduling fee. Additionally, I have spoken to some people that have told me "making people attend AA meetings as a requirement to complete this program is offensive to everyone."
