if ca is like my state, a dui has two trials (criminal and traffic) and it is possible to be convicted in one and not the other. the traffic court is a trial deciding on whether or not your license is suspended, whereas criminal court decides your fine and/or jailtime. if ca is the same and you were not convicted in criminal court then the answer would be no because the traffic court is not a criminal court (cannot issue fines or jailtime).

As far as that question goes, pleading guilty to misdemeanor DUI in traffic court is exactly the same as being convicted of it in criminal court. Until you petition for dismissal, the answer is yes.
