I'm a 22 year old college student who made a terrible decision 1 night. I was pulled over and charged with DUI (blew 0.1) and Reckless/Negligent Driving. I also have a pending Driving on a Suspended License charge from early this year (license was reinstated before DUI). I understand that I face up to a year in jail for DUI but based on EXPERIENCE (not a state DUI law fact sheet), what kind of punishment am I possibly looking at?
Also, I was in the enlistment process for the USMC at the time the DUI. Although it will be near impossible for me to enlist now, I still am working towards it. Would a judge be willing to help me by expunging the charge from my record to help me serve my country? I understand my mistakes and would be willing to plea out or do extra jail time to get to be able to accomplish my goal of serving.

I am a law student and have been charged with DUI (I know, not an ideal situation). I have an otherwise spotless record and am wondering the impact of a conviction on potential government employment--be it local, state, or federal. I have been accepted for an internship with the federal public defender's office and am wondering if a conviction (or even arrest) will disqualify me. I was honest about the situation on my application form. Is a first DUI a disqualification from public sector legal employment? Thanks.

My father in law is applying for a new job at a factory. In the application it asks if you have ever been convicted of a criminal offence for which you were not pardoned. He was convicted of DUI over 15 yrs ago. He put this on the application but he's wondering the likelyhood that he would be hired despite this. Will a potential employer scrap his application or will he still be considered?
We live in Canada. He was going to get a pardon but it's around 00.00.

My license has been revoked "permanently". I was reading the law and it states that the court shall revoke after the 3rd, as it is a felony. All three convictions were misdemeanors. I have nothing else on my driving or criminal record and there was no accident, speeding, or any other citations issued with the DUIs. Any thoughts about the permanence of my revocation?

OK, so someone lives a block away from their local bar. On the way from work, this person slams six beers in 15 minutes and gets in his car to go directly home. He is not drunk, as there is not enough time for enough alcohol to absorb in his system.
He should make it home in 30 seconds, but gets pulled over because a cop was staking the tavern out.
The driver refuses the field sobriety test (which is only an option) because of a handicap and is arrested for DUI. By the time he's down in the station giving a breath test, he is now drunk.
Are DUI laws really fair when you can get charged for DUI when you were not impaired while you were driving?
Please read the entire question, not just the title.
